Power Plays Record: 88-68

Canadiens @ Lightning – Game 5 – Over 5.0 Goals (1.80 | -125)

The Bolts were a post away from hoisting the Stanley Cup for the second time in as many years. Despite the loss, Tampa continued to outplay Montreal and we should expect to see more of the same tonight.

Our betting model is slightly favoring the under but we’ll be lobbying against it tonight. When the Lightning are at home, they see a few more scoring opportunities as their expected goals for increase from 2.72 (playoff average) to 2.83 (home playoff average).

Another key factor in the success of this pick will be the play of Carey Price. Price’s performance has taken a dip in the finals, specifically in goals saved above expected. He’s currently allowing 1.34 more goals above expected per game which means he’s not making the saves needed to help his squad. Mix this in with a few early empty-net opportunities if a team starts to trail by multiple goals and we shouldn’t have any reservations about this play.
