Lightning @ Canadiens – Game 3 – Lightning Money Line (1.74 | -135)
Montreal’s game 2 defeat was a tough pill to swallow. The Habs outplayed the Bolts for most of the contest but fell victim to a crushing goal with 0.3 seconds left in the second period. The Canadiens proved that they can hang with the Lightning but they’re facing an uphill battle.
There’s plenty of value in the Lightning money line tonight. Despite Tampa’s mediocre performance last game, our model still has them as 69.2% money line favorites. In the first two games of the series, Andrei Vasilevskiy has dazzled with a 1.00 goals against average, a .964 save percentage, a mind-blowing .955 slot save percentage, and 0.53 goals saved above expected. The Russian has clearly outdueled Carey Price so far this series and is beginning to solidify his title as the league’s best netminder.
The Lightning haven’t generated a ton of high-value scoring chances but they have been able to get to the slot which is a major red flag for the Canadiens. Tampa averages 15.2 slot pass completions per game, good for 3rd among playoff teams. That number has jumped to 19.0 slot pass completions per game against Montreal. Full credit to the Habs for making sure these plays don’t escalate however, with the talent spread throughout Tampa’s roster; things go south real fast.
