Power Plays – May 7

LogiqBets’ Power Plays give you a deeper look into tonight’s most valuable plays. All selections are made by our team of Hockey experts and are backed with the most advanced data and betting models in the business.

Power Plays record: 46-38

Heavy Money Line favorites: TBL (66.5) | COL (66%)

Stars @ Lightning – Lightning Money Line (1.63 | -160)

The Stars are going to come out swinging in this one and we expect the Bolts to start their backup, Curtis McElhinney, tonight which isn’t ideal but, there’s way too much value to pass on Tampa here.

The Lightning head into this one a heavy 66.5% Money Line favorite according to our model with a dominant 6-1-0 head-to-head record against the Stars. Sportsbooks are giving us unreal odds on a top-tier team, across all of our offensive and defensive metrics, at home. The defending Stanley Cup champs average 3.19 Expected Goals For per game, good for 4th in the league, and that stat stays on par when they’re at home which tells us that the Stars defence is in for another busy night.

The Lightning generate a majority of their offence off-the-cycle and on the forecheck so you can expect to see a ton of pressure on the Stars’ blue-liners. Not many fans would consider Brayden Point as a gritty player however, he leads the Bolts in those aforementioned Cycle Chances (68) and Forecheck Chances (19), an area of the game where we tend to see stereotypical, larger power forwards and grinders excel in.
