Sharks @ Avalanche – Over 6 Goals (1.87 | -115)

The Sharks’ offence is kind of like a box of chocolates when they take on the Avalanche; “you never know what you’re gonna get”. In some games this season, they’ve absolutely torched the Avs and have made them look like any old team while in other games, they’ve come up completely flat as we would expect against a powerhouse organization.

The good news for bettors is that we have a pretty good grasp on what the Avalanche will generate offensively tonight. The Avs average 3.76 Expected Goals For per game against the Sharks which is close to being on par with the 3.58 Expected Goals For per game they average when they’re at home. This tells us that Colorado will get their share of quality scoring chances and should hold up their end of the goal total at a minimum.

As we’ve seen throughout the season, Colorado also has the ability to go nuclear on any given night. More so against the Sharks as the latter has allowed an average of 18.5 Slot Shots per game to the Avs. Mackinnon and company have been dominant on the cycle in the season series as well. On average, the Sharks allow 10.8 Cycle Chances per game to their opponents but when they take on Colorado, that number increases significantly to 17.3.

To sum it all up, Colorado’s high octane offence mixed with San Jose’s offensive randomness and inability to prevent high danger scoring chances should make for some pretty entertaining hockey tonight.
